The Malaysianist is an independent media outfit run by journalist Emmanuel Samarathisa and primarily supported by its readers. To that end:
- I will correct an error promptly and disclose the correction to our readers when I make a mistake.
- I maintain the anonymity of our sources when asked to do so and when they are sharing information deemed of public interest.
- I do not and never will accept payment to write about any company or public figure on The Malaysianist.
- I still write for Tech in Asia (TIA) and don’t intend to disclose this relationship every time I link to their stories.
- I do not hold any individual stock in any companies. I only have an account with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which invests in a wide range of equities, and whose decision-making I have no control whatsoever.
- I fully own and control the newsletter’s holding company, The Malaysianist Sdn Bhd.
- The Malaysianist runs ads in its free weekly issues. For more on this, do read our advertising guidelines.
- We may occasionally seek out partnerships to fund and produce thematic reports. These relationships will be guided by our advertising policy.
- The Malaysianist pays for all of its own travel and expenses while on assignment.
- We do not accept gifts save for the odd t-shirt or coffee mug.
- We may sometimes acquire a single stock or small amounts of cryptocurrency to better understand and report on companies and trends. We will disclose this if we do. We will not acquire any stock or crypto for trading or speculation.
